Special Trip to Utah

We took a special trip to Utah the first weekend in May so that Adaline's aunts, uncles, grandparents, great-grandmother, and other extended family could support her and witness her receive a name and a blessing. Months before Adaline was born and up until the time we bought our flights to Utah we agonized, discussed, and even fought over where we should bless her. It sounds silly that so much went into this decision, but Mr. Bluth and I both wanted different things and there was not a right or a wrong way to do it. At one point when we were busy discussing it, I called my mom to talk to her about it and she said "this is only the first of many where you both will want different things for Adaline." We continued to discuss what would be best for our little family and we both made some small compromises and the end result is that we had a wonderful experience. It was a beautiful day and all three of us received support and love from family and friends.

At the last second before Adaline's blessing I quickly sent one of my companions from my mission who came to support Adaline a text asking her to record a few things that Mr. Bluth was about to say as I knew I would have a hard time remembering them. I am so glad my dear friend did that because Mr. Bluth gave a beautiful blessing and I never want to forget some of the things that he said and asked our Father in Heaven with to bless her. I think Adaline could tell how wonderful her blessing was because as Mr. Bluth carried her back she was facing outwards and just smiled at everyone.

My incredibly talented mother made Adaline's blessing dress and it is BEAUTIFUL. My mother created a unique dress that fit Adaline perfectly and the dress is of the utmost quality. I don't know if Adaline's wedding dress will even be as beautiful as this dress. I don't know how we can go up from here.

After Sacrament meeting we spent time with family and friends and I was so glad that Mr. Bluth was finally able to meet some of my Lee cousins. A horrible winter storm stopped a lot of my Lee family from coming to our wedding (curse getting married in January!).

Monday we spent the morning with my parents and brother at my Grandmother's house doing some yard and house work. I have so many fond memories of my Grandmother's yard that it felt so good to put some work into it and to spend some much needed time with my Grandmother. Later in the evening we spent time with some of the extended Bluth family by going to Blaster Tag in Provo. Our friends from Chicago started the business and it is an indoor Nerf gun arena. Nothing like running around shooting Nerf guns at each other to reacquaint ourselves with the Bluth family and it was great to finally support our friends by going to their business.

Tuesday was a relaxing day where we went and toured a chocolate factory (the weekend before we met a family from Utah who owns a chocolate factory and they were visiting Chicago). It was fun and delicious and Adaline looked the best in the hair nets. I guess it was a lot of effort for Mr. Bluth because as soon as we got back he fell asleep on his family's couch. His mom also took a nap so Adaline and I went to the backyard and enjoyed the grass. That is mom life I guess, everyone gets to take a nap while you stay up and take care of the baby. She was pretty funny to watch as she experienced grass for the first time so it was far better than taking a nap!

We left Wednesday and had a horrible flight with our sweet baby girl screaming at the top of her lungs for the last 45 minutes of the flight. The flight to Utah was perfect and she was an angel baby and we had a party at the back of the plane with all the flight attendants. We talked about their families and their lives and of course, most of the time they played with Adaline and they kept telling us how cute is Adaline.

I would give anything for Adaline to grow up and be as strong as her grandma and great-grandmother.

4 Months

4 Months. 4 glorious months with our baby girl. Each month she somehow wraps our hearts tighter around her little finger.

During the last month Adaline has continued to be an excellent sleeper and happy baby. People are still commenting on her alertness and it is entertaining to watch her eyes wonder and explore new places.

A fun fact is that Adaline and her mama were the exact same height and her mama just weighed 4 ounces more than her at 4 months.

My Favorite Things

Here are my current favorite things in life:

1. Babies in bonnets. I may be a bit partial to the bonnet due to the fact that I lived in period style clothing for 18 months, but putting babies and bonnets together is a perfect combination.

2. FaceSwap. A picture is worth a thousand words and then the world met Faceswap and now a picture is worth far more than a thousand words.

3. Not one, but two babies. Adaline and her little friend smile and reach for each other and it makes every adult in the room just swoon.

4. $5.00 doughnuts. Chicago has a handful of specialty doughnut shops and they all end up putting you in a state of comatose from all the sugar. I happen to be walking past one shop called Glazed and Infused when a worker opened the door and started offering doughnuts to anyone. They were getting ready to close for the day and I grabbed us a dozen doughnuts for $5.00 instead of the normal $30 price.

5. Sleeping babies. Even when they wake up extra early only to fall asleep in your bed.

6. Family Selfies. Who doesn't love a picture that looks like the baby was holding the camera?! We really need to start taking some more family selfies though.

7. West Loop. The other Sunday we went for a walk after church in our neighborhood and just one street away from where we live we found the annual Greek Parade. Greek Town is a few streets down from us and I love living in a neighborhood that is full of culture and history. The beautiful weather also made me fall a little more in love with my city.

8. Baby Cougar. Rise and Shout because Adaline couldn't stop smiling the day she wore her first BYU shirt. Mr. Bluth only hopes that this is the first of many times she will be sporting the blue.

9. Girl's Night Out. Nothing beats a night of chips and salsa with some of my lady friends. Chicago has been so good to us with providing us with some exceptional individuals.

10. Exposed Brick Walls. I have such a love hate relationship with my exposed brick walls. I hate that it makes my house extremely dusty, but I love the look. I recently enjoyed watching my husband try out his rock climbing shoes on the wall.
