It was an emotional good-bye to our home of 3.5 years. Our first home together and the home where we brought our baby. A home filled to the top with memories. How do you go from your first residence to any other residence and have it still fill like home? Guess we are about to find out. All we know together is that little loft where we hugged, lived, cried, danced, fought, exercised, entertained, and loved.
But let's be honest, by the time we were living among boxes and a mess, we were all ready to get out! Lake Street Lofts will probably be our favorite home and definitely the one with the coolest story and history. As with any move, there are things we miss and things we don't miss!
We moved to Lincoln Park at the perfect time of year where we are enjoying the summer Farmer's Market, the zoo, and the 10 minute walk to the beach. We moved into a one bedroom apartment, but it is a true one bedroom and the room is completely enclosed! Now we don't have to tip-toe around at night and we can turn on lights and watch a movie. The move has been life-changing. We are still working on finding a place for everything and hanging up pictures, but overall we are starting to feel like this is home. You wouldn't think that we could have kept so much stuff in our previous small apartment, but somehow it is too much stuff for our new place. But a good purge of some unnecessary items is probably good for a growing family.
The neighborhood up here feels more like family and less like industry. We see strollers and nannys and children all over the place. There are parks and swings on every other corner. And we are never woken up by a bouncer yelling at raucous patrons. Although the food scene is almost definitely not up to our previous neighborhood's standards, at least there are new places to try. We had grown comfortable in our last neighborhood, maybe this one will help us grow.
We quickly took one last family picture in our old apartment. What is not shown is a huge mess! |
We are really going to miss the history and historic buildings of the West Loop. |
Adaline will always be a West Loop Baby to us. |
